I swear my podcast is not about death! Its unfortunate that we are losing so many great people recently... This weeks podcast is dedicated to the amazing Patrick Swayze! I hope you enjoy the mix of all my favorite songs, movie themes, TV shows, cartoons and commercials from the 80's! Listen for the samples and quotes... hopefully they will give you flashbacks:)
Since the last update we lost another amazing DJ: Grand Master Roc Raida. He was known best for his lightning fast beat juggle battle routines, innovative body tricks and involvement with the turntabelist crew The Executioners. Check out some clips of him giving away his secrets HERE! I use to spend hours & hours watching his videos and imitating his tricks. I wish I had the chance to meet him in person and tell him how much he inspired me. His legacy will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace DJ Roc Raida!
So far this week my personal recommendations are:
Monday:
Tabu in MGM Grand: DJ Scotty Boy & DJ Enrie "Rock Box"
Jet in Mirage Hotel: Industry Night
Tuesday:
Studio 54 in MGM Grand: DJ Scene's Birthday + special guests
Lavo in Palazzo Hotel: DJ Five
Wednesday:
Lavo in Palazzo Hotel: DJ Tina T, sponsored by Hpnotiq
Wasted Space in Hard Rock: DJ Justin Hoffman
Thursday:
Tao in Venetian Hotel: Industry Night w DJ Five
More TBA...

This past weekend I lost a friend, role model and the biggest inspiration in my DJ career. DJ AM passed away on Friday afternoon at his apartment in New York City.
Its not very often you can become friends with your idol. I remember when we first met, he came into the BPM Magazine office in LA. I kept pacing back and forth in front of their meeting, hoping my boss would stop me and offer an introduction. When he finally did(thanks Matt), AM was instantly supportive and has been since that day.
I have never met anyone who loved DJing and hip hop more than AM . All the publicity and media attention he got was backed up with undeniable skills and hard work. His creative mind was on a different level. The themes, scratching and word play that he programmed into his sets were things no one ever thought of. He took insane risks on the turntables and pulled it off every time.
I learned from AM about the type of DJ and person I want to be. He used his status to help others, put people like myself on and bring DJ's together. When he formed the DJ crew: DECKSTAR, it was the greatest accomplishment I have felt as a DJ to be added to the roster. Having his stamp of approval and respect means the world to me.
Im grateful to have known AM. I will miss seeing the grin on his face every time he played a song he knew no one had or nailed a sick scratch set. He was the ultimate DJ's DJ, the best we had and there will never be anyone like him. He is in company of many other music legends like himself now.... Rest in peace DJ AM.
